India’s bowling star and stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah left the fans worried as he went off the park just after lunch. The 31-year-old bowled just a single over before heading to the dressing following a brief chat with Virat Kohli. Australian media later showed Bumrah wearing his training gear and leaving the ground.

Bumrah then sat in a car and was seen leaving the ground possibly heading to the hospital. It isn’t clear as yet what the issue is with Bumrah as the BCCI or Cricket Australia haven’t made an official statement yet. With Bumrah not being in the park, it is a huge blow for India who are showing tremendous fight with the ball at the SCG.

So far Bumrah has been the best bowler in the series with 32 wickets. The right-arm pacer came into the game with 30 wickets in the first four games. His two wickets at the SCG was that of Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne for two runs each. So far Bumrah has bowled 10 overs with figures of 2/33 with one maiden over.

Beau Webster scores maiden fifty to keep Australian hopes alive

Debutant Beau Webster made an immediate impact with the bat as he scored a fifty on his Test debut. The 31-year-old came into the game in place of Mitchell Marsh and did marginally well with the ball. Webster went wicketless with the ball but got two catches that of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli.

Without Bumrah, the onus will be on Mohammed Siraj to lead the attack. Prasidh Krishna and Nitish Reddy are the other seamers in the team. Team India will hope that Bumrah can make his way back and the scans don’t show any significant damage. One good news for the fans is that, Bumrah seemed fine while walking and showed no discomfort.

Team India has to win the game to keep their WTC Finals hopes alive. If India level the series 2-2, they will hope that Sri Lanka can beat Australia and enable their entry into the finals. A win at the SCG will also mean that India keep hold of the Border Gavaskar Trophy extending Australia’s wait to grab the title a little longer.
