Delhi Capitals had a fruitful day on the first day of the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah. They acquired some great players at a decent amount to strengthen their squad. DC’s co-owner, Kiran Kumar Gandhi, was also a hot topic on social media, as fans believed that he destroyed other teams’ strategies.
Meanwhile, DC’s star and destructive opener, Jake Fraser-McGurk, was repurchased by the franchise as they used an RTM (Right to Match) card to get him for 9 crores. During the bidding war, Punjab Kings got him for 5.50 crores, but DC didn’t want to let go of their young batter. Interestingly, Jake was also watching the auction with his friends and was seen jumping in joy when PBKS announced the RTM price of 9 crores.

Delhi Capitals buy KL Rahul for 14 crore
DC retained four players ahead of the auction: Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs, Kuldeep Yadav, and Abhishek Porel. However, according to reports, they didn’t retain their star player and skipper, Rishabh Pant, due to an internal dispute. However, they signed a new skipper in the face of KL Rahul for 14 crores. They also went all in to get Shreyas Iyer but PBKS were not ready to leave the auction without getting Iyer. The right-handed batter was sold for 26.75 to PBKS.
Apart from Rahul, there were also some great buys as they got Harry Brook (Rs. 6.25 crore), Jake Fraser-McGurk (Rs. 9 crore), T. Natarajan (Rs. 10.75 crore), Karun Nair (Rs. 50 lakh), Sameer Rizvi (Rs. 95 lakh), Ashutosh Sharma (Rs. 3.80 crores), Mohit Sharma (Rs. 2.20 crore).
