Opener Jack Wood turned on the style when he smashed three successive sixes against Will Sutherland in the third over. The first six came in the second ball of the over when Sutherland bowled a slower ball that Wood whacked across the line. The next six came in the third ball which was flicked for a huge six by the batter.

Will Sutherland bowled a slower ball that Wood slogged for the third six in the over. After a slow start to the game, Brisbane Heat made their comeback to the game. 19 runs came off the third over of the innings. This was the impetus Brisbane needed to make their intention clear.

Meanwhile, there is a massive concern for the Sri Lankan team ahead of the two-match Test series against Australia. Star batter Pathum Nissanka has suffered an injury that could see him miss the entire series. Nissanka it is learned suffered the injury during the recent tour of New Zealand.

Reports stated that “Pathum Nissanka who suffered a groin injury in the third ODI against New Zealand at Auckland has been ruled out of the first Test against Australia. MRI scans have revealed that he has a Grade 1 tear and he being available for the second Test starting 6 February is also doubtful.”
