Hafeez who was speaking on a local Pakistani channel said “When he (Rohit Sharma) was brought into the captaincy zone, as a leader he took the stance that I have to take a selfless approach. And I have to induct the same approach into the dressing room because somewhere it was seen that Indians played cricket for themselves”

The former Pakistan skipper also said “If you see the superstars' names were big but the performances weren’t matching up. What Rohit did was change the situation and said that I would play selflessly and would lead from the front. It doesn’t matter to him if he batting on 49, he looks to hit a six rather than take a single. He has negated his personal milestones for the sake of his team”

‘This boy is special’ – Wasim Akram heaps lavish praise on Indian skipper

Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram was yet another huge name to compliment Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. Pakistani pace legend was giving thoughts on the show ‘Dressing room’ after India’s win on Thursday. Speaking during the show Akram said “There is a lazy elegance about Rohit Sharma. He is special. He has scored three double centuries in ODIs,”

The former Pakistan skipper also said “In 2008, during a tri-series in Australia, I was doing commentary, and all of us in the commentary box predicted that there was something special about this boy. He scored a fine 70 and looked so good to the eyes,”

Meanwhile, veteran India batter Cheteshwar Pujara said that Rohit’s approach helped Shubman Gill settle down. The 37-year-old as quoted by Indian Express said “His batting complements Gill. Rohit’s attacking style helps Gill settle down. With the strike rate he bats at in the first five overs, the score is 40. The other batter can take 10-15 balls to get set. Even if India lose a wicket early and Rohit is still at the crease for the next ten overs, he makes life easy for Virat also,”
