Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi happened to be in an unexpected and unfortunate incident during the game against England in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. While completing a run in the first innings, Hashmatullah Shahidi collided with the on-field umpire Rod Tucker who was there at the non-striker’s end.

Just after the collision with Rod Tucker, Shahidi fell to the ground before standing again on his feet. Umpire Rod Tucker was also seen smiling during his collision with the Afghanistan skipper.

The video of this moment also went viral on social media as soon as it was shared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on their official Instagram handle.

Speaking of the current action of the game between Afghanistan and England, Afghanistan's skipper won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Hashmatullah Shahidi’s men have scored 227 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 42 overs. Ibrahim Zadran is still there in the middle at a brilliant score of 115 runs off 119 balls, with seven fours and three sixes.

Skipper Shahidi also scored crucial 40 runs, with three fours followed by Azmatullah Omarzai’s impactful 41 runs off just 31 balls, with one four and three sixes. former skipper Mohammad Nabi has just joined Ibrahim Zadran there in the middle.

Star England pacer Jofra Archer has scalped 3 wickets at just 34 runs in his eight overs so far, alongside a wicket each bagged by Jamie Overton and Adil Rashid.  

Notably, it is a virtual knockout game between England and Afghanistan, the losing side of this game will be eliminated from the tournament. Both teams are coming off the defeats in their respective campaign openers. Afghanistan lost to South Africa by 107 runs while England were beaten by Australia with a 5-wicket margin.

England will be looking ahead to clear off the books with Afghanistan as they defeated the Three Lions by 69 runs in the ODI World Cup 2023.
