Rana, took a tumble after tumbling the catch and was seen celebrating the wicket in an animated manner. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) players mobbed the bowler as he got the huge wicket of the dangerous Aussie batter.
Abhishek Sharma was the next man to go as he offered an easy catch in the slips to Venkatesh Iyer in the second over. Sharma was out for just two runs after facing six balls to give Rana his first wicket of the day. At the end of two overs, SRH were reduced to nine runs for two wickets as the home team bowlers exerted pressure on the batters.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Venkatesh Iyer propel KKR to huge score
Pat Cummins and Mohammed Shami dismissed KKR openers early before skipper Ajinkya Rahane was joined by Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Both batters went hammer and tongs to attack the SRH bowlers before Rahane was out for 38 to Zeeshan Ansari. Harshal Patel then took an amazing catch to get the wicket of Raghuvanshi for 50 as Kamindu Mendis got his maiden IPL wicket.
Venkatesh Iyer’s 29-ball 60 helped KKR reach 200 on the board as the left-handed batter went after the SRH bowlers. Iyer was ably supported by Rinku Singh who was not out on 32 as the pair added 91 runs for the fifth wicket. Iyer scored his first half-century of the season and was given a standing ovation after being dismissed in the final over.
Speaking at the mid-innings break, Venkatesh Iyer said “ It was evident that the ball was holding up a bit, not the Eden I have played over the last two years, I think this is a very competitive score, if we bowl and field well, we should win this. I was watching the match from the screen, it wasn't easy to play shots, the ball was holding a bit, Ajinkya and Angkrish were really good to set-up the innings for us”
