Indian cricket ace Mohammed Siraj is currently sweating it out in the nets for the Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL 2025 season. The right-arm seamer is celebrating his 31st birthday on Thursday. The 2022 IPL winners put out a short video where Siraj could be seen bowling in the nets and captioned it “Poetry in Motion ft. birthday boy.”
Siraj joined the Titans after spending the last seven seasons with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The 31-year-old has played 93 matches in the IPL and has picked 93 wickets with the ball with a best of 4/21 and an economy rate of 8.64 runs per over. Many RCB fans were shocked when Siraj wasn’t retained by the franchise ahead of the auctions.
The 31-year-old last played for India in the Border Gavaskar Trophy and was omitted from the ODI format. It is to be noted that Siraj was one of India’s main bowlers in the ODI World Cup in 2023 and was part of the side that won the T20 World Cup in 2024. With the tour of England coming in June, the Hyderabad-based pacer will play a huge role with the ball in the five-match Test series.
Mohammed Siraj reveals Shubman Gill’s reaction after the bowler joined GT
Ahead of his linking up with his current teammates at the Titans, Mohammed Siraj revealed how Gill reacted once the bowler joined the Titans. Gujarat forked out INR 12.25 crore to acquire the pacer after he was let go by RCB at the end of the IPL 2024 season.
Siraj was heard saying, “Baju main hi Shubman (Gill) ka room tha. Toh jaise hi mera naam aaya, usne baju se knock kiya. Usne bola 'tension mat le, tu toh idhar hi aane waala hai'. Jaise hi main pick hua GT mein, shower le raha tha, turant towel bandh ke, mujhe hug kara aake, aaja bhai GT family mein."
Gujrat Titans will kick off their IPL campaign against Punjab Kings at home on 25th March before hosting Mumbai Indians. Siraj will then head to Bengaluru on the 2nd of April to take on his former side at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in what will be an emotional encounter.
