Indian cricket star Mohammed Siraj has reached Ahmedabad as he gets ready to start his life as a Gujarat Titans (GT) player. The 30-year-old was released by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the end of IPL 2024 season. Shubman Gill led side and paid INR 12.25 crores to acquire Siraj for the coming season.

GT put up a short video on their social media handle as the player was seen arriving in Ahmedabad. The franchise captioned the video and wrote, “Dil Se Pyare Siraj aa gaye” playing with the words DSP as the pacer is fondly called DSP Siraj by fans on social media. 

Fans could be seen welcoming the star pacer as he made his way from the airport. As soon as he reached the hotel there was a welcoming ceremony for Siraj. The 30-year-old has played 93 IPL matches with six of them coming for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and 87 for RCB. Siraj has picked 93 wickets with 83 scalps coming in RCB colours while ten were for SRH. 

Matthew Wade joins Gujarat Titans support staff 

Former Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade has joined Gujarat Titans as the assistant coach ahead of the new season. The 37-year-old played 12 games for GT scoring 161 runs with a best of 35. The franchise took to social media and confirmed the news by posting “Champion. Fighter. Now our Assistant Coach! Welcome back to the GT Dugout, Matthew Wade!”

Wade retired from international cricket late last year but continues to play franchise T20 leagues. He was seen playing the Big Bash League for Hobart Hurricanes which won their first ever Big Bash League title this year. Wade then played in the ILT20 league before deciding to join GT as the assistant coach. 

The former Aussie star in a statement after his retirement had said, “I was fully aware my international days were most likely over at the end of the last T20 World Cup. My international retirement and coaching has been a constant conversation with George Bailey and Andrew McDonald over the past six months, Coaching has been on my radar over the last few years and thankfully some great opportunities have come my way, for which I am very grateful and excited."
