‘Means a great deal’ – Will Young rejoices after scoring special ton

Put into bat by Mohammad Rizwan, the Kiwis managed to amass 320 runs on the board. Will Young and Tom Latham scored centuries and added 118 runs for the fourth wicket. It was a key stand for the Kiwis who had lost three wickets for 73 runs in the 19th over. This was also the fourth century for Young in ODI cricket.

Speaking at the end of the innings, the veteran opening batter said, "Means a great deal obviously. The start of the Champions Trophy and to start like that is a special feeling. 320 is a good total, didn't look that possible after those 3 early wickets. Tom Latham came out with the fire and we managed to keep the board rolling. We will have to see how the wicket behaves. Was difficult when they bowled back of a length and it did spin as well."

Glenn Phillips and Tom Latham added 125 runs for the fifth wicket in just 74 balls to take the Kiwis past 300. By the end of the innings, Phillips was out after scoring 61 off 39 balls with three fours and four huge sixes. Latham stayed not out on 118 off 104 balls with 10 fours and three sixes.
