WATCH: Gautam Gambhir's emotional message for KKR fans after becoming head coach of Indian cricket team

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will miss the services of their prime member, Gautam Gambhir, who was appointed as their mentor in the IPL 2024. He has also led KKR to two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014. When he was reappointed as the mentor, nobody ever thought that KKR would win the IPL after a gap of 10 years. His mentality and approach towards the game are incredible, making him special. 

Now that he has to leave KKR to serve the national side as their head coach, Gambhir shared an emotional message for the fans through a video recorded at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. While this is a proud moment for the fans, they'll surely miss his contributions to the team.

Gambhir is set to start his tenure as the head coach of the Indian cricket team from the Sri Lanka series, which will start on July 26. Until then, the management is in search of a new captain who can manage the white-ball cricket. Moreover, the squad for the series will be declared on July 17 or July 18. 

Hardik Pandya to 'take a break' from ODI series against Sri Lanka

Hardik Pandya, one of the main reasons behind India's T20 World Cup 2024 victory, has requested a break from the ODI series against Sri Lanka for personal reasons. He has informed the selectors and the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma regarding this break. 

However, he'll be back for the T20Is and was supposed to lead the team. But there seems to be a change of plans by the selectors. As per reports, Suryakumar Yadav is considered the captain and might lead the team until the T20 World Cup 2026. More information of this will be revealed by the selectors as they'll announce the squad in one or two days.
