India and Pakistan have endured contrasting fortunes in the T20 World Cup. While Rohit Sharma and his men have made it to the Super-8 stages, Pakistan have crashed out in the first round. Kamran Akmal who is a former player for Pakistan has come up with a rather ridiculous statement comparing his brother Umar Akmal to Virat Kohli.
During a TV show, the former Pakistani wicketkeeper was heard saying “Mujhe stats kal aaye hain. Mein baat kar raha hu Umar ki. World Cup matches in T20s, Umar and Virat Kohli's. Umar is like Virat Kohli's little finger, (compared to) the performance and stature of Virat Kohli, the kind of player he is. But Umar Akmal has better strike-rate than Virat Kohli in T20 World Cups”

Umar Akmal is one of the three Akmal brother who has played for Pakistan. His other brothers Kamran and Adnan have retired from. The three brothers are also to current Pakistan T20 skipper and leading batter Babar Azam. The 29-year-old himself is facing flak for his lackluster leadership that cost Pakistan a chance to enter the Super-8 stages.
‘Humari koi PR company nahi hai’ – Kamran Akmal continues to take shots at Virat Kohli
After making a rather ridiculous comparison between Virat Kohli and Umar Akmal, the former Pakistan player continued with his rant. While talking on ARY news Kamran Akmal said that they didn’t take the aid of social media to showcase Umar Akmal’s stats. "Hamari koi PR company nahi hai. We don't spread our stats on social media. If these stats of Umar Akmal were part of these 15 players (Pakistan's T20 World Cup squad), is waqt tak tabahi aa jani thi”
Umar Akmal became an instant sensation as he scored a blistering 129 off 160 balls on his Test debut. His knock came in 2009 against New Zealand and he was touted as the next big thing in Pakistan cricket.
Bad form and inconsistencies with the bat saw Umar Akmal lose his place in the side. His last appearance for Pakistan across formats was in October 2019, in a T20I match against Sri Lanka where he scored a golden duck.
Team India meanwhile, head to Barbados after their game against Canada was abandoned. Rohit Sharma and his men will face the table topper from Group C on the 20th of June. The winner of the game between Afghanistan and West Indies will end up as the leader of Group C as both teams have won their three games.
