Babar Azam has established himself as one of the greatest Pakistan batters and has a huge fan following in his country. This was proved once again in the 4th match of Champions One-Day Cup 2024 on Sunday 15th September. A video of fans leaving the Faisalabad stadium after Babar's dismissal has gone viral on social media.
Fans get disappointed when their favourite cricketers get out or concede too many runs. Sometimes the disappointment gets too high that they are forced to leave the stadium even without watching the complete match. The same thing happened in Faisalabad as a large group of people left the stadium when Babar marched towards Stallions' dug-out after playing an impressive knock against Markhors.

Fans thronged the Faisalabad stadium to witness Babar and his team perform. The right-hander, however, did not disappoint his fans, playing a solid knock (45 off 45 balls) before Stallions endured a massive collapse.
After opting to bat first, Markhors managed to post 231 despite Jahandad Khan and Mehran Mumtaz shining with four and three wickets respectively on a bowling-friendly track. Chasing a moderate total, Stallions had a poor start, losing Yasir Khan cheaply in the fifth over.

While Shan Masood continued his struggling form, Babar managed to put on another decent performance on the back of eight fours. He was dismissed by star of the night Zahid Mahmood in the 16th over when the team score was 79-4. The leg-spinner then went on to pick up four wickets and helped Markhors clinch a massive 126-run victory.
Babar regaining his form bodes well for Pakistan cricket. He was going through a rough patch in international cricket across the format in recent times. Notably, the 29-year-old was the Player of the Match in Stallions’ tournament opener against Lions. He smashed 76 off 79 balls in their 133-run victory. Stallions’ next match is against Dolphins on Thursday, September 19.
