The sixth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was played between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 26. Guwahati’s Barsapara Cricket Stadium hosted the clash, serving as RR’s second home ground of the season. Notably, it is also Riyan Parag’s home turf, as he hails from Assam. However, home advantage didn’t work in RR’s favor, as KKR defeated them by eight wickets.
Despite RR’s second loss of the season, an incident during the match went viral on the internet. As mentioned earlier, Parag is a local favorite in Assam and enjoys a strong fan following in the state. During the second innings, a fan breached security to meet the young cricketer. Parag, who is currently leading RR, was bowling the 12th over when the fan suddenly ran onto the field to touch his feet.

Brilliant all-round performance from KKR
Talking about the match, KKR won the toss and elected to field first. The bowlers proved the decision right as they sent RR’s four batters back to the pavilion under 10 overs. All the bowlers contributed well, which helped KKR restrict RR to just 151 runs. Dhruv Jurel was the highest run-scorer with 33 runs.
Varun Chakarvarthy was the star bowler for KKR as he picked up two wickets in his four-over quota and conceded only 17 runs. Moeen Ali, who played in the place of Sunil Narine, also picked up two wickets in his debut match. Apart from them, Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora also took two wickets while Spencer Johnson managed to take a single wicket.
Chasing the target, KKR started slow with Moeen Ali getting dismissed on just five runs. However, Quinton de Kock took matters into his own hands and played a magnificent 97-run match-winning knock to help the team win the match comfortably.
