Rohit Sharma and Co. have managed to end India’s 11-year trophy drought. India won their first-ever ICC tournament since 2013 and their second T20 World Cup title after 17 years. The Men in Blue defeated South Africa in a nail-biting thriller at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday.

Chasing a target of 177, South Africa was well ahead in the chase but Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh pulled things back at the right time. With 16 needing off the last six balls, Hardik Pandya held his nerve to give his team a convincing seven-run win.

Following the victory, all players, coaches and support staff were seen in tears as they indulged in jubilation with the whole of India in this historic moment. The skipper Rohit Sharma walked away from the crowd just for a moment to look up at the sky and acknowledge the moment and struggled to hide his tears.

Teardrops trickled down from Virat Kohli’s eyes too. He had struggled with form the entire tournament. But delivered when it was necessary in the final with a match-winning half-century. Vice-captain Hardik Pandya was seen sobbing uncontrollably. He was trolled heavily in the IPL but gave his best in the biggest stage for his nation.

Check out the pictures and video from Team India's emotional celebration:

Speaking after the match, Player of the Tournament, Jasprit Bumrah said: "Usually I’m the one who tries to keep my emotions in check and get the job done but today I don’t have many words, I don’t usually cry after a game but the emotions are taking over. We were in trouble but we’re really over the moon to win from that stage. My family is here, we came close last time and we got the job done, there’s no better feeling than to get your team through in a game like this. It just felt good, tried to keep myself in a bubble and tried not to think too far ahead".

Mohammed Siraj said: "My only belief was on Jassy (Bumrah) bhai (To turn this game around). He's the only game-changer. Whatever I thought exactly happened. Unbelievable feeling guys, can't explain. Last World Cup I (we) lost the final. Every professional cricketer wants to win the World Cup final. I'm grateful I'm here and thankful."
