Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batters came up with a blazing start with the bat while chasing 239 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) game on Tuesday. Sunil Narine was at the forefront of the attack when he smashed 30 runs off just 13 balls. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner Digvesh Rathi got the wicket of Narine in the seventh over at a crucial time in the game.
The incident happened on the second ball of the seventh over when Narine went for a lofted drive but didn’t time the ball well. Aiden Markram took the catch and Digvesh Rathi then sank to his knees and began doing his ‘notebook’ celebration by writing on the ground.

It is to be noted that Digvesh has cited Narine as an inspiration after his match-winning spell against Mumbai Indians. Narine’s knock contained four boundaries and two sixes as KKR reached 90 for one at the end of the powerplay overs. Quinton de Kock was out for 15 runs when he was dismissed by Akash Deep in the third over of KKR’s innings.
Lucknow bowlers put under pressure by KKR batters
Defending champions KKR scored 129 runs for the loss of two wickets at the end of ten overs. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane scored his second fifty of the IPL 2025 season as he got to the mark off just 26 balls when he swept Avesh Khan for a boundary. Rahane had hit seven fours and two sixes enroute to his fifty.
After scoring 60 runs from the first four overs, KKR got 13 runs in the fifth over bowled by Akash Deep. KKR skipper Rahane began the over with sweetly timed fours before Narine ended the over with yet another boundary. Avesh Khan then saw Rahane hit him for two massive sixes and end the over with a four as Khan gave away 17 runs from his first over.
