Team India players are busy with their practice just before the start of the 4th Test in Melbourne starting on Thursday. Skipper Rohit Sharma is one of the batters who is under spirit to score runs. Devdutt Padikkal was bowling to Rohit during the net session and left Indian skipper shocked.
Padikkal was seen bowling off-spin with a short run up as Rohit gave him the charge. The ball kept low and nearly knocked Rohit’s stumps over as India’s captain had a shocked look on his face. Seeing Rohit bat in the nets will be a welcome sign for the fans after his injury scare on Sunday.

It was reported that Rohit Sharma was hit in his left knee while batting in the nets. Indian team staff then were quick to ice Rohit’s knee who was seen taking a breather. Rohit then resumed batting but the moment was scary for many fans with the game set to begin in a few days.
Pressure building on skipper to perform
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been going through prolonged period due to bad form. Both batters haven’t been able to score too many runs in the last two games. Virat Kohli scored a century in Perth but has largely been falling to deliveries outside the off stump.
Rohit Sharma on the other has scored just 19 runs in the 3 innings he has batted so far. With R. Ashwin retiring from cricket, the speculation have started to build regarding the future of many of India’s senior players. If Rohit continues to perform poorly there will be questions asked about his place in the side.
Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar during his chat with ABC Sports said, “I think Rohit obviously will get the opportunity to play in the next couple of matches, that’s for sure. But maybe at the end of it, if he hasn’t scored runs, my feeling is that he himself will take the call."
The series is currently level at 1-1 after the draw in Brisbane. Team India has to win the series 3-1 in order to guarantee direct qualifications for the World Test championships finals. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in particular will want to qualify for the massive game and play the 3rd successive finals and try to win the title.
