On Saturday, KL Rahul was hit on his hand while batting in the nets. BCCI hasn’t posted an update on the fitness status of either cricketer. Indian fans will hope both players are fit to play the game starting on 26th December. The Boxing Day Test match in Melbourne is a huge game for the visiting side if they have to keep their WTC final hopes alive.

Team India began the series with a huge win in Perth by 295 runs. Australia then levelled the series after winning the Adelaide Test by 10 wickets. The third Test match in Gabba ended in a draw thanks to constant downpours that plagued the game. Veteran spin bowler R. Ashwin called time on his career at the end of the game.

Sunil Gavaskar asks Indian top order to show more patience

Former Indian captain and batting legend Sunil Gavaskar has asked the visiting side batters to show more patience. During his chat with Hindustan Times, the 75-year-old said that many Indian batters are showing urgency while playing against the new ball.

Mr Gavaskar said “I just get the feeling that there is a certain urgency, a certain rush that the Indian batters are showing, which on Australian surfaces when the ball is new and the bounce is something that you are not used to, is causing them problems. That is probably the main reason why we haven't seen the top order score as much with the half-push, half-drive kind of strokes they are attempting."

Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar also added “Sometimes, it is about what the team decides and what the team wants. If the team says that this is the approach we are going to have, then even if that approach is not something you are used to or you are comfortable with, it is something you have got to follow.”

“Whether that is what the team is saying, that we are going to be aggressive batters, I wouldn't know because I am not in the change room. But these are all five-day Test matches and very few matches last all five days. There is plenty of time to be able to play the shots once you've got the hang of what the pitch is doing." Further added Sunil Gavaskar.
