Once the match was done, DC players could be seen doing the cradling motion as a way to celebrate the moment. Former India batter turned coach Hemang Badani was seen celebrating the moment with the rest of the team which also included skipper Axar Patel. Foreign players like Jake Fraser-McGurk, Mitchell Starc, Tristan Stubbs, and mentor Kevin Pietersen also joined in the fray.
Rahul is set to be back for the second game of the season which will be played against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Vizag. On Monday, Delhi managed to win the game in the last over after Ashutosh Sharma hit a six to seal the game. At one stage, Delhi were tottering at 65/5 still needing 145 runs to win from 80 balls.

Rishabh Pant looks back on the loss to Delhi
It wasn’t a sweet reunion for LSG skipper Rishabh Pant with his former team. Pant had missed an easy stumping chance in the first ball of the final over of the innings. With the bat, Pant had scored a duck when he was caught by Faf Du Plessis off Kuldeep Yadav. Lucknow managed to reach 209 thanks to Nicholas Pooran’s 75 and Mitchell Marsh’s 72.
Speaking after the game, Pant said “You need luck at times, but it is important to play well rather than think about luck. We batted and bowled well, but you need to do the basics right to win a game. We didn’t do the basics right. However, it is still the early days of the tournament, and we are still settling in as a team”
Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar has come out in support of Pant after LSG’s loss on Monday. In his chat with the broadcasters, Gavaskar said “Rishabh Pant is an intelligent cricketer, and he will have picked up valuable insights regarding his batting and captaincy. I believe we will see an improved performance from him. Additionally, when a captain scores runs or takes wickets, it significantly boosts their confidence in making bowling changes and setting the field. Once he gets some runs under his belt, I expect his captaincy to become even more assured,”
