South African bowlers fought back hard against India during the second T20I in Gqeberha on Sunday. David Miller left the crowd and Indian batter Tilak Varma stunned with a one-handed catch that gave the home team huge advantage.

Tilak Varma tried to clear the field in the final ball of the 8th over. The left-handed batter couldn’t time the ball well. David Miller stuck his hand out and took a spectacular one-handed grab. Varma could only stand and glance in utter disbelief as he made his way back to the hut for 20. 

Just a few over earlier, the left-handed batter had left the crowd stunned with a huge hit. Tilak Varma hit Gerald Coetzee for a huge six that settled on top of the stands. The ferocity of the shot was such that even the South African bowlers and fielders were seen staring in shock. 

South African bowlers dent India’s batting

Aiden Markram chose to bowl first after winning the toss on Sunday. The home team had began the series with a loss in Durban on Friday by 61-runs. Opener Reeza Hendricks replaced Patrick Kruger for the Proteas. India didn’t make any changes as they went in with same team that had done well in Durban. 

Marco Jansen got the first wicket for the hosts in the third ball of the game. Sanju Samson who had scored a century in the last game saw his leg stump hit the floor when he went for a huge shot. The 29-year-old missed the line of the ball as Jansen got the home side a huge wicket. 

Abhishek Sharma was caught by Heinrich Klaasen for four runs off Gerald Coetzee. The 24-year-old couldn’t time the pull shot well as Klaasen settled under the ball and took an easy catch. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav was the next man out as he missed the yorker from Andile Simelane and was given out LBW. 

Axar Patel and Tilak Varma then added 30 runs for the 4th wicket before Varma was out for 20. Tilak Varma got his runs from 20 balls with one four and one six. Axar Patel was the fifth man out as he was run out for 27. The 30-year-old hit four boundaries in his 21-ball stay at the wicket. At the time of writing India were 74/5 in the 13th over with Rinku Singh on 3 and Hardik Pandya batting on 8.
