Coldplay have been making waves in India with their amazing performances. The group were performing in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in front of a huge crowd. There was a huge roar in the crowd as soon as they spotted Indian pace ace Jasprit Bumrah. The 31-year-old was given a shoutout by lead singer Chris Martin during the performance on Sunday.
The 47-year-old even dedicated a song for Bumrah to leave the fans going crazy. Bumrah was seen smiling as he acknowledged the crowd. This is not the first time; the pacer was mentioned during Coldplay concert. Chris Martin had mentioned Bumrah earlier as well for his amazing bowling in the previous few concerts.
India’s ace pacer has been sidelined due to injury and there is massive concern about his participation in Champions Trophy 2025. Bumrah suffered an injury during the Sydney Test match against Australia few weeks ago. The 31-year-old didn’t bowl in India’s second innings as the hosts coasted to an easy win.
New Zealand doctor set to assess Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness
According to reports carried by Times of India, New Zealand based Dr. Rowan Schouten will asses the pacer’s fitness. The prognosis will be key if the 31-year-old has to take part in Champions Trophy 2025. Times of India also reported that Mohammed Siraj could be given a recall if Bumrah isn’t passed fit.
One BCCI source while speaking to Times of India said “The BCCI medical team is in touch with Dr. Schouten in New Zealand. The board has also planned a visit for Bumrah to New Zealand. But this hasn’t happened yet. The selectors know it will be a miracle if he (Bumrah) turns up 100% fit in the given timeline”
The BCCI source also added “The reports will be shared with his doctor in New Zealand. Sending Bumrah to New Zealand will depend on the feedback. The board and Bumrah himself are not willing to push hard given his significance over a long period of time”
“The selectors will be informed if he is ready to take the field after the entire process is complete. The selectors will need to keep a backup plan ready for him. It will be a miracle if Bumrah makes it”. The unnamed source from BCCI further said to The Times of India newspaper.
Harshit Rana is already in the ODI squad as a back-up for the 31-year-old. The selectors will want to look at Siraj considering the experience the pacer brings to the table. Siraj has been India’s best bowler across formats along with Bumrah in the last few years.
