New Zealand and Pakistan took on each other in the third and last ODI of the three-match series at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Saturday. The Blackcaps defeated the visitors by a 43-run margin to whitewash the series by a clean sweep margin of 3-0.

Meanwhile, a chaotic moment occurred during the game which went viral on social media. The unexpected incident happened in the second innings of the game when lights went off when Pakistan were chasing the target of 265 runs. New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy was bowling to Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan and the things took a drastic turn as lights went off at the Bay Oval.

Speaking of the action of the game, the visiting skipper, Mohammad Rizwan, won the toss and asked New Zealand to bat first. Batting first, the Kiwis posted a total of 264 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the reduced 42 overs. Rhys Mariu and skipper Michael Bracewell contributed with the half-centuries, scoring 58 and 59 runs off 61 and 40 runs, respectively.

Besides these two, Daryl Mitchell also scored 43 runs off 53 balls, with three fours and a six to help New Zealand post 264 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 42 overs.

While chasing the target, the Men in Green were bundled out at the score of 221 runs in the second innings and lost the game by 43 runs. It was only the former skipper Babar Azam who played a half-century knock, scoring 50 runs off 58 balls, with 4 fours and a six. Besides him, Mohammad Rizwan and Tayyab Tahir were the ones to contribute with the knocks of 37 and 33 runs, respectively.  

Ben Sears claimed a five-wicket haul, scalping 5 wickets at just 34 runs in 9 overs for NZ, alongside 2 wickets bagged by Jacob Duffy. Apart from these two, Michael Bracewell, Muhammad Abbas, and Daryl Mitchell also picked a wicket each.
