Pakistani cricket star Babar Azam is getting ready for the two-match Test series versus Bangladesh. The first Test is set to be played in Rawalpindi starting on the 21st of August. Ahead of the first Test, Babar Azam was seen sweating it out with the bat in hand in the nets.

Khurram Shahzad was bowling to Babar Azam in the nets as the right-handed batter could be seen in trouble. The video posted on social media showed that Babar Azam was on his haunches as the bowler went up to check on him.

This was followed by Babar Azam being completely puzzled by Khurram Shahzad as he missed the line of the ball. In the video, the bowler got the ball to jag into Babar Azam and the latter was hit on his stomach. This caused a stoppage in proceedings as the bowler yet again went to the batter to check on him.

Once the nets resumed, Khurram Shahzad beat Babar Azam for pace as he disturbed the stumps. The bowler was ecstatic after getting the wicket and he began celebrating as the video went viral.

Wasim Akram ignores Pakistani players while naming his favourites

Former Pakistani pace legend Wasim Akram was recently a guest on AmeriCricketTV. During his chat, the former left-arm pacer legend was asked to name his favourite batter and bowler.

Much to the surprise of everyone, Wasim Akram decided to name Jasprit Bumrah as his favourite bowler. “If I have to pick one, maybe my countrymen might not like… My favourite fast bowler has got to be this Indian great, modern great Jasprit Bumrah. He is something very different, and why he impressed me because he’s a good bowler in all three formats,” he said.

Wasim Akram also praised USA seam bowler Saurabh Netravalkar who captured the imagination of the world during the T20 World Cup. “Very impressive. He is still getting wickets. He is an IT engineer, I believe, but now he can play regular. He is not very fast, but he swings the ball and has good variation," he added.

When asked to name his favourite batter, Wasim Akram said, “I played in the 90s. I have played against all these greats. If you talk about Sunil Gavaskar from India, Martin Crowe from New Zealand, or Allan Border from Australia, all these massive names, but one name pops up, West Indies great Sir Vivian Richards. He was, I think for me, the best-ever batter who graced this beautiful game, but then in the 90s, I played against great Sachin Tendulkar, unbelievable Brian Lara from the West Indies, and the Waugh brothers from Australia."

During his chat with AmeriCricketTV, Wasim Akram named Virat Kohli as his most loved batter instead of Babar Azam. “All-time great is Sir Vivian Richards as a batter, but present, if I have to pick, it’s got to be another Indian batter who I really admire, not just on the field but off the field, for his fitness, routine, and mindset—Virat Kohli, one of the biggest names in world cricket," Akram said.
