Spencer Johnson’s fifer derails Pakistan in Sydney
Australia batted first and scored a mere 147 on the board thanks to 4/22 by Haris Rauf. Matthew Short top-scored for the home team with 32 while the rest of the batting order failed to make good use of the starts they got.
In reply, Pakistan batted poorly in the first 9 overs as they failed to a single boundary. Left-arm seamer Spencer Johnson picked 5/26 from his four overs to record the 5th best bowling figures by an Australian bowler in the T20I format.
Spencer Johnson began by dismissing Sahibzada Farhan and followed it up with the wicket of Mohammad Rizwan. Agha Salman became the third wicket for Johnson with a first-ball duck. The fifer arrived with the wickets of Usman Khan for 52 and Abbas Afridi for 4. The final T20I match will be played on Monday in Hobart with the home team having already wrapped up the series.
Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan while lamenting the loss said “Bowlers bowled really well. But if you drop crucial catches, it will cost you always. We all know Australia is not an easy team, especially in these conditions. We all know the pitch wasn't easy to bat. Catches were crucial. Haris loves Australia because of the pace and bounce”
