Arshdeep Singh then pulled back his length to deliver two dot balls to mount pressure on the batter. In the fourth ball of the opening over, Salt tried to play a big shot and didn’t time the ball well. Josh Inglish who is keeping wickets for PBKS had to make lots of ground to take Salt’s catch as RCB suffered a massive blow early in the game.

Rajat Patidar who walked out to bat at number three got off the mark with a stylish for four to signal his intent. By the end of the first over, nine runs were scored to give the home team a great start to the contest. Both sides have played six games so far and have eight points.

Steady drizzle welcomed the two sides as the toss was delayed for more than two and half hours. The covers were taken off much to the relief of the fans who had been waiting for the game to begin. It was decided that the game will be played 14-overs per side with four overs of powerplay. Three bowlers can bowl a maximum of four overs as per the regulations for the game.

It was at this venue in 2008 that IPL’s first game was played RCB took on Kolkata Knight Riders and lost by 142 runs. Bengaluru’s home form this season has seen them lose both their games. In the last match, RCB had beat Rajasthan Royals away from home by nine wickets as Phil Salt and Virat Kohli scored fifties.

Punjab Kings on the other hand had beaten Kolkata Knight Riders in their last game by 16 runs. Shreyas Iyer’ side were all out for 111 runs and then bundled out KKR for just 95 runs as former RCB star Yuzvendra Chahal picked four wickets. Speaking at the toss, PBKS’ skipper Iyer mentioned that it is better to chase in Bengaluru since it was a short game.
