Indian fielding continued to disappoint in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 finals on Sunday. Rachin Ravindra proved to be the lucky beneficiary as he was dropped by Mohammed Shami and Shreyas Iyer in successive overs. Anushka Sharma, who is in Dubai to watch the final, was seen giving a shocked expression as the catch went down.

Shreyas Iyer, who is known for his amazing fielding display, dropped an easy chance in the early part of the game. Varun Chakravarthy invited Ravindra to play the sweep shot, and the batter obliged and didn’t time the ball well. Iyer was seen making good ground before diving to get to the ball and dropping the catch.

Indian spin bowlers peg back New Zealand batters

Will Young and Rachin Ravindra had started well to score at above seven runs per over in the powerplay overs. Ravindra, in particular, had hit two fours each off Shami and Hardik Pandya. The young batter had also hit a huge six off Pandya to set the tone for New Zealand, who batted first after winning the toss.

Varun Chakravarthy then struck when he got the key wicket of Will Young for 15 runs. Kuldeep Yadav then got into action as he got the wicket of Ravindra in the first ball of his spell for 37. This was followed by the big wicket of Kane Williamson, who was out for 11 runs as he offered an easy return catch to Kuldeep Yadav.

Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell then added 33 runs for the fourth wicket in 11 overs. Both batters failed to break the shackles that India’s spinners had cast on the Kiwis. Tom Latham then went for a sweep against Jadeja and was hit on the pads. Umpire Paul Reiffel had no hesitation in raising his finger in India’s favor. Latham decided to review the call, but the decision stayed in India’s favor as he was dismissed for 14 off 30 balls.
