India's former captain, Virat Kohli, is struggling hard against outside off-stump balls in red-ball cricket. In the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, Kohli has been dismissed in the same manner for the seventh time in a row. The main controversy happened when Kohli came into bat in the last ball of the eighth over and was dismissed on the very first ball.
The ball went to second slip where Steve Smith was standing. He bent to his right side to take the catch but the ball touched the ground, he scooped the ball, and it went straight to the fielder in the gully. The umpires declared it not out because the ball touched the green grass when it was in Smith's hand. As soon as the Australian players started celebrating, Anushka Sharma looked furious at Kohli's dismissal.

Just missed a beat there! 🥶

Kohli played 69 balls and scored 17 runs but still ended up chasing the outside off-stump ball. It has been a repeated mistake now, but Kohli doesn't seem to care much about it.

The captain of the country does not opt-out: Mark Taylor
The most controversial thing that happened before the fifth Test match against Australia was Rohit Sharma's exclusion from the game without any specific reasons. When Bumrah came in for a toss, he was asked about Rohit, to which he replied, 'Our captain opted out of the game.' Former Australia player Mark Taylor takes a dig at the Indian management for playing tricks in between the series.
"To be honest, that's once again sidestepping the point. The bottom line is the captain of the country does not opt-out for a final deciding Test match of a series. There is no doubt he has been dropped and I don't know why they just don't say it," said Mark Taylor.
