Team India were bowled out for 263 with an overall lead of 28 during the second day of the Mumbai Test match against New Zealand on Saturday. Shubman Gill was the best batter for India with 90 while Washington Sundar played well to score 38 runs. The little cameo by Sundar helped India take the crucial lead on a pitch which has started to do tricks.

Ajaz Patel, for the second time in three years, was the best bowler for the visitors. The left-arm spinner who was born in Mumbai bowled 21.4 overs and picked 5/103 with the ball. Glenn Phillips, Matt Henry, and Ish Sodhi picked a wicket each. Akash Deep was the last man out for India for a duck without facing a ball.

New Zealand lost the wicket of Tom Latham early in their 2nd innings. The Kiwi skipper was beaten for pace as he lost his off and middle stump to Akash Deep. Just a ball before Latham was given out LBW but an inside edge onto the bat saved the Kiwi skipper. New Zealand had scored 6 runs from 2 overs and were trailing India by 22 runs.

New Zealand were bowled out for 235 in their first innings as Ravindra Jadeja picked a fifer. Washington Sundar bowled well to pick 4/81 as Daryl Mitchell and Will Young scored half-centuries for the visiting side.

The home team ended the first day at 86/4 having lost three wickets in a frenetic session to end the day. Rohit Sharma was out for 18 caught by Tom Latham off Matt Henry. Ajaz Patel then struck to dismiss Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj for 30 and zero respectively. Virat Kohli was the last man out for the day run-out for 4 runs.

Rishabh Pant came out with aggressive intent on his mind and went on to score a fifty from 36 balls. Shubman Gill made the best of the chance he got courtesy of a dropped chance to score yet another Test fifty.

Ish Sodhi then got the key wicket of Pant LBW for 60. Glenn Phillips was out after lunch caught in the slips by Mitchell for 14. Sarfaraz Khan playing his first game in front of his home crowd was out for a four-ball duck.

Shubman Gill edged the ball to Mitchell off Patel for 90 runs after having faced 149 balls with 7 fours and a six. Washington Sundar was not out on 38 off just 36 balls with the help of four boundaries and two sixes.
