Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter lost his cool at Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) bowler Digvesh Rathi in the IPL 2025 game on Monday. The incident occurred in the third ball of the eighth over with Rathi bowling to Sharma who was batting on 59. The bowler came up with a well disguised googly as Sharma went for a huge hit. Shardul Thakur settled under the ball and took a neat catch.
Once the wicket was claimed the bowler started to wave the batter away and did his now famous notebook celebration. Abhishek Sharma had nearly made his way to the dugout but came back and had a word with the bowler. The SRH batter wasn’t pleased with the way he was given a send-off and made his feelings clear to the bowler.
Just as the situation was getting out of control, the umpires stepped into calm the situation. Shardul Thakur who was nearest to the bowler first tried to diffuse the situation. Debutant pacer William O Rourke was seen taking Rathi away as the bowler was seen trying to make his way to Sharma as the batter was walking away.
Abhishek Sharma fifty leads SRH to terrific start
Hyderabad came out to bat needing 206 runs to win their fourth game of the IPL 2025 season. Atharva Taide who is making his SRH debut hit three boundaries in his knock of 13 before he was caught by Rathi to give O’Rourke his first wicket of IPL. Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma then went on the rampage as the two batters scored boundaries at will.
Ravi Bishnoi was brought onto bowl in the seventh over and Abhishek Sharma made mince meat of his bowling figures. The first two balls produced just two runs as the bowler seemed to be settling into the perfect rhythm. Abhishek Sharma broke free when he smashed Bishnoi straight down the ground for a six.
In the following ball, Sharma hit the bowler over the long-off region for second six of the over. The third six saw the SRH batter send the ball soaring into the stands for the third six. Sharma also reached his fifty off just 18 balls and then slammed the last ball of the over for the fourth successive six over the mid-wicket region.
