Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) took on Delhi Capitals (DC) in their sixth away game of the IPL 2025 season. So far this season, Rajat Patidar and his men have won all their previous five encounters away from home. RCB came into the game after beating Rajasthan Royals by 11 runs to register their first home win of the season.

Delhi Capitals opened the batting with Abhishek Porel and Faf du Plessis, with the latter making his comeback after missing the last few games. In the fifth ball of the third over that was bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, young Abhishek Porel played a classy shot to set the tone of the game.

Veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a terrible delivery down the leg side. Porel picked the length early and played a classy pick-up shot over the fine leg region for a huge six. Just two balls earlier, Porel had hit Kumar for a six as debutant Jacob Bethell made a terrific effort to stop the ball from crossing the ropes.

Delhi Capitals loses two early wickets

Put into bat first, Delhi Capitals got off to a perfect start with the bat when Porel glanced Kumar down the leg side for a boundary. The left-handed batter also hit Yash Dayal for a boundary as the home team were able to score 15 for no loss after the first two overs. Josh Hazlewood, who has been RCB’s best bowler so far, gave his team the wicket they were looking for as he had Porel caught down the leg side by Jitesh Sharma for 28.

Karun Nair got off the mark with a boundary but was soon dismissed while attempting to play a bit shot. Bhuvneshwar Kumar judged the catch perfectly to deal DC their second blow of the game and give Dayal his first wicket of the evening. By the end of six overs, DC had scored 52 for the loss of two wickets with Du Plessis and KL Rahul batting.
