Pakistan T20 skipper Babar Azam was recently speaking to former South African batting legend AB De Villiers. The conversation was light-hearted as the two batters showed warmth and friendliness towards each other.

During the course of the chat on de Villiers’ YouTube Channel, the former Proteas skipper Babar Azam named a batter who he has played with or against. Without missing a beat the Pakistani batter named AB De Villiers. This brought a huge smile on ABD’s face who was left a bit red-faced.

Babar Azam was also asked to name the toughest bowler he has faced in international cricket. Replying to his Babar Azam mentioned Australian Test and ODI skipper Pat Cummins as the most difficult bowler he has had to face.

Babar Azam takes inspiration from fellow batting greats

Former South African star AB De Villiers hosted Babar Azam as his guest on his YouTube channel. The conversation slowly veered towards Babar Azam’s inspirations and how he learns from others.

The Pakistani batter replied “When overseas players come to Pakistan, youngsters engage them and learn because international players are playing lots of leagues and they share that experience with everyone”

Babar Azam also mentioned “When I was young, I always talked with you, learn from every single player. I am always talking to Kane Williamson, Joe Root, and Virat Kohli. So when you speak to good players they give you good advice that helps you a lot”

AB De Villiers also asked Babar Azam to name his future goals, “Honestly, I’m just thinking day by day. I’m not thinking about where I am going. I’m just playing my game and enjoying myself every single time. I just love to play cricket.”

Recently Babar Azam along with Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan were denied NOC to play in the Global T20 League. The three stars according to the PCB will have to play the home season which is set to clash with the Canadian league.

Pakistan is set to have a packed season with cricket matches set to take place both home and away. There is also the Champions Trophy 2025 which Pakistan is slated to host but their status as host nation is up in the air if India refuses to tour Pakistan. The tournament then may be shifted to a different venue entirely or played in a hybrid model.
