The cricketing fraternity came out in droves to wish India on its special day as the nation celebrates its Independence Day on Thursday. Dipping into the national fervor cricketers past and present took to social media to post their heartfelt messages and wishes.

Meanwhile, Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan posted a short video of himself with his brother Yusuf Pathan celebrating the famous Legends championship win over Pakistan. “Happy Independence Day to all my fellow Indians, may we keep flying our tri-colour high wherever we go”.
Indian coach Gautam Gambhir took to Instagram and posted a picture with his family hoisting the flag and wrote “Freedom comes at price, our heroes pay it every day with the blood, never forget”
Sachin Tendulkar took to X and wrote “Sportspersons aren't the only ones playing for India. Every Indian who does their job with honesty and sincerity is a key player for Team India. So, when the national anthem plays today, know that it's for you, and I hope you'll feel the same way I did when I heard it every time I stepped out to play for India. Sabhi ko Swantantra diwas ki der sari shubkamnaye”
Indian cricket stars soak in national fervour
Team India star player Hardik Pandya who has been in the news for his personal life took to X and wrote “Playing for my country will always come first for me. Wishing you all a very happy Independence Day”
Right from Yuvraj Singh to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) everyone was seen wishing the nation. Mithali Raj who is a former Women’s cricket legend wrote “Every time our tricolour flutters in the wind, it tells a story of resilience, hope, and the relentless pursuit of freedom. Our nation’s journey is a testament to the strength we find in unity and the dreams we share. Today, we honour our past and look ahead to a future filled with endless possibilities. Happy Independence Day to every Indian, wherever you are.”
While the Indian team is on a break the BCCI has announced the teams for the Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament on Wednesday. Major names like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Mohammed Shami haven't been included while Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested to manage the workload.
