Wasim Jaffer posts hilarious tweet after Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma were excluded from T20I team

The Indian selectors announced the two teams for the ODI and T20I series versus Sri Lanka. One of the notable names that were missing were that of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. The two stars had last played in the five match T20I series versus Zimbabwe. 

Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer who is known to put out funny tweets has done it once again. Taking to X, Jaffer posted a picture of Indian actors Sanjay Dutt and Abhishek Bachchan and wrote “Surprised to say the least”. Sanjay Dutt who is known as Sanju amongst the film circles can be seen with Abhishek Bachchan.

It was a clear play at the exclusion of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma from the team. Sanju Samson had scored a match winning fifty in the final game, while Abhishek Sharma put the world on notice with a brilliant century in the 2nd T20I. 

Shashi Tharoor outrages over Sanju Samson’s omission 

Congress MP, Shashi Tharoor saw red after it came to be known that Sanju Samson wasn’t part of the Indian team for the T20I series against Sri Lanka. The seasoned politician took to X and conveyed his displeasure. 

This is what Shashi Tharoor wrote ““Interesting squad selection for India’s tour of Sri Lanka later this month. @IamSanjuSamson, who hit a century in his last ODI, has not been picked for ODIs, while @IamAbhiSharma4, who hit a T20I century in the #INDvZIM series, has not been picked at all. Rarely has success in India colours mattered so little to the selectors! Good luck to the team anyway.”

Suryakumar Yadav has been chosen as the captain of the side that will play three matches starting on 27th July. According to a source the reports and the feedback from the dressing room was one of the reasons why SKY was given the T20I captaincy. 

Hardik Pandya was thought to be at the forefront of captaincy but many playing members felt comfortable playing under Yadav. The 30-year-old Indian all-rounder is currently undergoing personal issues having just announced separation from his wife Natasa Stankovic on Thursday. 

Rohit Sharma has already been named the skipper of the ODI side with Shubman Gill as his deputy. Ravindra Jadeja has been dropped from the team while Shreyas Iyer makes a return to the side. Harshit Rana who impressed everyone during IPL 2024 has been given his first ever call-up to the Indian ODI side.
