Stunning the fans and the experts of the game, RCB has now moved to the 5th spot of the points table of the ongoing IPL 2024 with a 47-run win against DC in the 62nd match of the tournament. Both teams played this game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, May 12, 2024, as the second match of Super Sunday’s ‘double-header’.

DC had won the toss and asked the hosts RCB to bat first, while batting first, the RCB posted a total of 187 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Star number 3 batter, Will Jacks and middle-order batter Rajat Patidar played the brilliant knocks of 41 and 52 runs off just 29 and 32 balls.

Besides these two, Cameron Green and former skipper Virat Kohli also scored 32 and 27 runs off 24 and 13 balls. Rasikh Salam Dar and Khaleel Ahmed scalped 2 wickets each for DC in the first innings, alongside one wicket each claimed by Ishant Sharma, Mukesh Kumar, and Kuldeep Yadav.

While chasing the target, DC's batting completely crumbled against the RCB bowlers and got bundled out at the score of just 140 runs in 19.1 overs, losing the match by a big margin of 47 runs. It was only the stand-in skipper Axar Patel who kept struggling for DC as he scored 57 runs off 39 balls, with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Besides him, J Fraser-McGurk and Shai Hope scored 21 and 29 runs, respectively, with all other batters getting failed.

RCB’s one of the strike-pacers, Yash Dayal scalped 3 wickets just at the cost of 20 runs in 3.1 overs, alongside 2 wickets picked by Lockie Ferguson. Besides these two, Swapnil Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Cameron Green also bagged one wicket each for RCB in the second innings to help their team win by 47 runs and stay relevant in the playoff contention.
