In a historic moment for the Indian cricket fans, and especially for the Rohit Sharma fans, the MCA inaugurated the stand in his name at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Rohit Sharma’s family was also present at the stadium on this occasion. The stage was also graced by the presence of the Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, alongside the former MCA president, Sharad Pawar and current president Ajinkya Naik.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis also heaped praises on Rohit Sharma and also made a big statement while hoping for a big moment, with a special ‘six’ moment of the former MI skipper and the batting stalwart.
“We all are waiting for Rohit Sharma's six to land on the stand named after him, it'll be delightful to watch,” said Fadnavis on the inauguration of the new stand at the Wankhede Stadium.
Speaking of Rohit Sharma’s current form for the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL 2025, he is among the leading run-scorers for his side in the tournament. The 37-year-old has scored 300 runs in 11 innings, with an average of 30.00, hitting three half-centuries. He is the third leading run-scorer for MI in the tournament’s current edition.
He will be in action for MI in the next match of their campaign on Wednesday, May 21, at 7:30 PM (IST). The five-time champions will take on the Delhi Capitals at their home ground, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Hardik Pandya-led side made a stunning comeback in the ongoing 18th edition of the tournament after a shaky start in the initial phase of the tournament.
They are currently placed in the fourth spot in the tournament standings, with seven wins and five defeats in their 12 games, having 14 points. They are coming off a defeat in their last game against GT, following four consecutive wins.
