The changes behind the scenes have started to take place in the Pakistan Cricket Board. Former players Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq have been sacked by the national selectors early on Wednesday morning.

Babar Azam and his side exited the T20 World Cup in the first round and failed to make it to the Super-8 stages. The team lost their opening two matches to the United States of America and India to end their chances.

The former Pakistan pacer put out an angry tweet which read “I don’t agree with the statements being discussed about adding pressure to the members of the selection committee. How can 1 vote dominate 6? Everything is documented on record in the meeting minutes. I will be issuing my statement soon”

Pakistan Cricket Board announce huge changes

Earlier today Pakistan Cricket Board announced that they have decided to sack Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq as the national selectors. The PCB put out a statement which read “they have notified Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their services will no longer be required in the national selection committee setup"

It is also known that for now the captaincy future of Babar Azam is yet to be decided. The 29-year-old was named the skipper of the side of the T20 World Cup which saw the men in green make a feeble first-round exit.

In a video doing the rounds, Gary Kirsten who happens to be the white ball coach of Pakistan could be heard saying “Babar will remain the captain”. It isn’t known as of now how or what the new selection committee have in mind.

Shaheen Afridi was the T20 captain earlier this year as he saw his side lose to New Zealand away from home. The decision to appoint Babar Azam as the skipper didn’t sit down well with a lot of fans and cricketing experts.

This isn’t the first time that the Pakistan Cricket Board has been at the end of some changes. PCB had decided to take action against the team after they failed to qualify for the Semi-Finals of the ODI World Cup 2023. Babar Azam had then stepped down as the skipper before the turnaround happened earlier this year.
