It is well known that Team India will play all its matches in Lahore. This though will happen with the BCCI giving its nod. The BCCI in turn has to wait for the final directives from the Indian government to take part in the tournament.
One ICC source while speaking to the media said, “The PCB has submitted the draft of the 15-match ICC Champions Trophy. Seven games in Lahore, three in Karachi and five in Rawalpindi.”
The source also added, “The opening match will be held in Karachi with two semifinals in Karachi and Rawalpindi, a final in Lahore. All India matches (including semifinal if the team qualifies) in Lahore."
When addressing the likelihood of the Indian government and BCCI giving its nod the source said “All board chiefs of the ICC Champions Trophy participating countries (minus BCCI) have assured him of their complete support but BCCI will consult its government and update the ICC."
India and Pakistan have mostly played in the ICC tournaments and their last meeting was in the T20 World Cup 2024. The match in New York saw a huge crowd attend the game as India came out as the winner. It is to be noted that the last time the two teams played in the Champions trophy was in 2017 when Pakistan won by 150 runs.
