Currently, the entire focus of the Indian cricketing fraternity including the experts, former cricketers and fans of the game is on the modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli. People in the Indian cricketing circle are eagerly waiting for Kohli’s comeback to domestic cricket after ‘more than a decade’.
Meanwhile, recent concern has hit the hopes of Team India and the Indian cricket fans, it is none other than the reported neck sprain that Kohli sustained. The reports have also understood that the veteran batter had to take an injection to dilute the impact of this sprain.
Amidst all this, the eyes are also on the next leg of the ongoing Ranji Trophy, which will continue on January 23. The reported injury has also left Kohli’s ‘Ranji participation’ under the ‘clouds of doubt’.
Apart from all this, the major concern for India and the cricket fans is regarding Kohli’s participation in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. The prestigious cricket quadrennial is set to be played in Pakistan and Dubai from February 9. The tournament will be played in Pakistan and Dubai.
“Virat Kohli had a neck sprain and even took an injection for the same,” a DDCA source close to the development told a newspaper.
Tough patch continues for Virat Kohli
The report further states, “There is a possibility of him (Kohli) skipping the first of the two Ranji Trophy games left and a clear picture could come if the DDCA selectors are given an update.”
The 36-year-old didn’t have an expected run of form against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2025, which concluded earlier this month. He could score only 190 runs in nine innings, with a dismal batting average of 23.75, hitting only one century in Perth in the first Test of the five-match series.
Now, Kohli will be eyeing a strong redemption with a comeback in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 if everything falls in place for him.
