RCB and KKR had some epic matches over years

It's the season's first high-profile matchup between the two teams with very different, opposing approaches. With Rajat Patidar leading RCB and Ajinkya Rahane taking over as captain of KKR, both teams have seen a shift in leadership. After failing in their past four encounters, RCB is keen to break their losing streak against KKR.

In the last season, RCB lost both of their games against KKR, a rivalry that was among the most captivating for spectators in 2024. Virat Kohli's controversial decision against Harshit Rana made the first meeting tense, but KKR dominated the second match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, chasing down 183 runs in only 16.5 overs.

The previous time RCB faced KKR in the Indian Premier League's first game, they were destroyed. In many respects, Brendon McCullum's 158* off 73 balls helped make the IPL the wildly popular competition it is now. After the excitement of the previous season, it is hoped that this rivalry will give the tournament the start it needs.
