Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane is all in readiness to lead the team in the 18th season of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He attended the press conference for the first time and took a stand for his teammate Venkatesh Iyer and said that he deserved the price he was bought at.
"I want to tell you all that Venkatesh Iyer deserved that price tag. People are talking about all these things, but he has done well for this franchise on a number of occasions, so I think he deserves that price. I just want to tell you that please support the team and not ask all these questions in the coming press conferences or wherever," said Ajinkya Rahane.
Iyer was magnificent for KKR in the previous seasons, and that is the reason why he was bought by the franchise for a whopping 23 crores. Iyer is one of the best players in the team and holds the experience as well. Hence, his presence will benefit the reigning champions in the upcoming season of the IPL.
I have always played where the team wants me to: Ajinkya Rahane
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane also mentioned that he is fine with batting in any position as long as it favors the team. Rahane, who is known to be a good batter in the middle orders, might retain his position since KKR have a good top order. Moreover, he is a reliable batter and doesn't throw away his wickets at crucial times.
"I have always played where the team wants me to play. Throughout my career that has been my thinking. The team comes first always. We still have 8 days to go for the first game, so we'll talk about it, have a discussion. Wherever the team wants me to bat, I will give my 100 percent in that position," added Rahane.
