Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg recently came up with his special wish to watch Indian cricketers featuring in Australia’s premier franchise-based tournament, the Big Bash League (BBL). Greenberg also revealed that Cricket Australia is in constant touch with the Board of Control for Cricket in India in their efforts to get permission for Indian players to play in the BBL.
Besides this, the CA Chief categorically mentioned the former India skipper and modern-day legend, Virat Kohli and the impact of his presence in the Australian league. Greenberg feels that Kohli's appearance in the BBL would definitely boost the tournament ratings and the interest of fans in the tournament.
Greenberg said that it would be a pleasure to watch Indian players in the Big Bash League, and the possibilities are being discussed between CA and BCCI.
“We would love to welcome some Indian players to the BBL. That’s certainly some conversations that we will continue to have with the BCCI. I would love to see Virat Kohli playing in the BBL this year,” said Todd Greenberg in an interaction with the media arranged by Cricket Australia.
“That would certainly create some interest in crowds and ratings, I’m sure, but at the moment, that’s not happening, but we do have our ambitions to do those types of things,” he added later.
Speaking of Virat Kohli, he is all set to feature for RCB against Punjab Kings in the highly anticipated IPL 2025 final. He has been in a sensational run of form with the bat in the tournament’s current season. The 36-year-old is currently the leading run-scorer for RCB in the tournament, scoring 614 runs in 14 innings, including three unbeaten appearances and an amazing batting average of 55.81.
He has also scored eight half-centuries, registering the highest number of half-centuries in an IPL edition. Now, all eyes are on him as he takes the ground against Punjab Kings in the high-octane IPL 2025 final.
