Cricket Australia backs players' choice on IPL return amid safety talks with BCCI

Following the announcement that the IPL will resume on Saturday, Cricket Australia will support players in their individual decisions whether to return to India or not.

The Indian Premier League tournament was suspended due to the rising security concerns stemming from concerns between the two countries India and Pakistan. The last match was played in Dharamashala on 8th May between the Punjab Kings and the Delhi Capitals.

However recent news indicates that the tensions between the two nations have eased. The IPL 2025 tournament is set to resume from 17th May. BCCI have taken permission from the Indian government and have receieved a go-ahead for the continuation of the tournament. 

A statement has been released by Cricket Australia regarding this situation. The statement read: Following the announcement that the IPL will resume on Saturday, Cricket Australia will support players in their individual decisions whether to return to India or not.

Team management will work through preparation implications for the World Test Championship Final for those players who choose to play in the remaining IPL matches.

“We are maintaining communication with the Australian Government and BCCI around security arrangements and safety," says CA spokesperson.
