ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is less than two months away from now as all teams are gearing up their preparations for the marquee international tournament. ‘Considerably’ the biggest franchise league in the cricketing world, the Indian Premier League is underway in which most of the big names of international cricket are in action.
Speaking from the point of view of Team India, there might not be very many surprises in their squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. The men in blue might go ahead with an expected lineup in the upcoming prestigious cricket biennial.
Virat Kohli's spot looking certain, alongside Pant making it to US and West Indies
A report in the Cricbuzz understands that the star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is likely to seal his spot in the Indian squad for the ICC tournament.
“His recent performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) seem to have given him a definite edge over his other contenders for the position and the Indian team and the think-tank are believed to be convinced that he is ready for international action. Unless he comes up with abysmally poor scores, he could be on the flight to the US and West Indies,” reads the report in Cricbuzz.
Meanwhile, the former Australia skipper Michael Clarke has also backed Pant to make a comeback in India’s T20 WC squad.
“Yeah, look it's great for Indian cricket, but it's also great for Rishabh Pant. I think the work that has gone into his rehab to get back to that level of play at any standard is an amazing achievement. He deserves a lot of credit for his hard work and it's great to see him on the field, captaining and playing well, batting and keeping,” said Michael Clarke on Star Sports.
Speaking of some other headlines about the India squad, the spot of the former Indian skipper and the modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli is also looking certain. While the selectors are also keeping a close eye on the emerging pace bowling sensation in the IPL 2024, Mayank Yadav.
