India's regular skipper Rohit Sharma opted out from the fifth Test as he is out of form. Amidst the ongoing clash of captaincy in the Indian team, Rohit cleared the air about it during an interview with Jatin Sapru and Irfan Pathan on Star Sports. As per Rohit, the young players should earn the captaincy by working hard on the field.

"Very difficult to answer this. There are a lot of good guys. But, I want to tell something to the young boys: ‘First understand the importance of cricket. Understand the gravity of international cricket.' I know they should be given responsibility. But, let them earn it. Let them play some hard-fought cricket for the next few years. Let them earn it," said Rohit Sharma in an interview with Star Sports.

India are struggling hard to score runs in Australia as the top order has failed consistently. Apart from a few players, no one has scored in the entire series, which is disappointing. Australia are back in the game, taking six wickets on day two. India will return to bat on day three with just four wickets in hand.

Every day can’t be a good day: Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma opened up on the responsibilities the captains have on their shoulders while dealing with the team in the long run. He specifically mentioned the mindset that should be maintained by the leader. Rohit wasn't a part of the last Test match because he 'stood away' due to his bad form.

"See as a leader, every day can’t be a good day. You have to accept that. And what you were doing right three months before, it doesn’t go bad in three months. Your mindset is the same. The captaincy I was doing 5-6 months ago, I have the same mindset, same ideology, same thought process, same messaging. But, sometimes, the results don’t come our way. Then people say ‘this guy is bad, what’s happening?'", said Rohit Sharma.
