Team India completed the series whitewash on Wednesday over England in Ahmedabad. Men in Blue won the match by a massive margin of 142 runs to head into the Champions Trophy high on confidence. Meanwhile, former India batter Suresh Raina left everyone in splits on commentary with a funny take on KL Rahul.
The incident in question happened in the 46th over when KL Rahul took a single to give Washington Sundar the strike. Raina came up with a witty line and said, “Bilkul bahut acha single waha par. Boundary aur sixes lagane padenge, death overs aa chuke hai, waise bhi Valentine’s week chal rahe hai, singles ache nahi lagte.” (Definitely a good single taken but need to score boundaries and sixes as the death overs are here. It is Valentine’s week; singles won’t do). This comment left others in the commentary box in splits.
KL Rahul, who had scored 12 runs in the first two matches, finally got to bat at number five. The 32-year-old scored 40 runs off 29 balls with three fours and a six. As far as wicketkeeping is concerned, Rahul wasn’t at his best. There were several lapses that were seen when England were batting.

England won the toss and asked India to bat first as the hosts compiled a huge total of 356 on the board. Shubman Gill scored his seventh ODI ton, with 112 off 102 balls, while Shreyas Iyer (78) and Virat Kohli (52) played perfect second foil. Adil Rashid was the best bowler for England with 4/64 from his ten overs.
Indian bowlers then withstood a brief assault from English openers as Salt and Duckett added 60 runs in 6.2 overs. Arshdeep Singh removed both the opening batters to give India a huge advantage. Tom Banton, playing his first ODI match for nearly five years, was the joint top scorer with Gus Atkinson. Both batters scored 38 runs each as England were bowled out for 214 in the 35th over.
Jos Buttler and his men fly down to Pakistan as they are set to take on Australia in their first match on 22nd February. India will begin their campaign on 20th February as Rohit Sharma and his side face off against Bangladesh in their first match of Champions Trophy 2025.
