The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 started grandly as the USA hammered Canada and won the match by seven wickets. Both teams played their first World Cup match, but their way of playing didn't seem like it was their first time. The confidence with which both teams batted and scored 190+ was commendable. It was a terrific win for the USA as they chased a target of 195 runs in just 17.4 overs.

After this win, the newcomers will take on the other teams with complete confidence, and we might actually get to see more thrilling matches in the coming days. The US captain, Monank Patel, was happy with the win and the performances and mentioned that their strategies against teams like India and Pakistan will be the same. This speaks volumes about the team's mentality, which is a positive thing.

"We always we knew he (Aaron Jones) had the game. He played fearless cricket. Really happy to see the crowd in numbers, hope they continue to give us the support. We want to continue the way we play are playing (fearless cricket). We don't want to change anything whether we play Pakistan or India," said Patel at the post-match presentation.

'We played an exceptional game overall' - Saad Bin Zafar, elated after performance against the USA

Scoring 194 runs on an unknown pitch against an unknown opponent as a debutant isn't a joke. That being said, Canada did a fantastic job in their debut match in the World Cup by announcing themselves to the world with a high score, which wasn't expected of them. Skipper Saad Bin Zafar was quite happy with the team's performance but didn't forget to acknowledge the mistakes made by the team. However, the amount of confidence the team would have built after this match will definitely help them in the future.

"Pitch had good bounce and it did get better for batting in the second innings with dew coming in. We missed the line and lengths. No balls and extras we shouldn't have given away those. We played an exceptional game overall. Nothing to be sad effort," said Saad Bin Zafar at the post-match presentation.
