South African debutant Matthew Breetzke wrote his name in history books with his knock of 150 in his debut match. The 26-year-old who has played a single Test and 10 T20I games marked his ODI debut in style. Matthew Breetzke also went to the top of the list for highest ODI debut score.
Former England batter Dennis Amiss was the first man to score a century on ODI debut. The feat was achieve when Amiss scored 103 runs off 134 against Australia during the Manchester ODI in 1972.
If we speak about Indian batters with century on ODI debut, it was achieved by KL Rahul. This came during his knock off 100 not out off 115 balls versus Zimbabwe in Harare in 2016. Rahul had hit seven fours and a six during his knock.

Veteran South African batter Colin Ingram made his ODI debut versus Zimbabwe in Bloemfontein in 2010. The left-handed batter scored 124 off just 126 balls with the help of eight fours and two huge sixes. Hashim Amla scored 96-ball 110 as the hosts scored 351 on the board and won the match by 64 runs.

Current New Zealand batter Mark Chapman made his ODI debut for Hong Kong in 2015 against United Arab Emirates. Chapman scored unbeaten 124 off 116 balls for his side with the help of 11 fours and two sixes. This helped Hong Kong post 298 on the board and win the game by 89 runs. Chapman with his knock off 124 not out posted one of the highest ODI debut scores.
3. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Afghanistan) -127 vs Ireland – 2021

Afghanistan sensation Rahmanullah Gurbaz wrote his name in history books by registering one of the highest ODI debut scores. The right-handed batter scored run-a-ball 127 with eight fours and nine sixes against Ireland in Abu Dhabi. Afghanistan won the match by 16 runs after scoring 287 runs on the board.
2. Desmond Haynes (West Indies) – 148 vs Australia -1978

Former West Indian batting great Desmond Haynes held the record for highest ODI debut score that came in 1978. Haynes scored 148 versus Australia in Antigua with his knock coming off 136 balls with 19 fours and two sixes. West Indies scored 313 runs on the board and went onto win the game by 44 runs.

Young South African opener Matthew Breetzke broke the long standing record set by Haynes on his debut in Lahore. The 26-year-old scored 150 against New Zealand off 148 balls in the Tri-series match on Monday. This puts the South African batter at the top of the list for highest ODI debut score.
