A team would never think to get wrapped up on a below-par total in a must-win ICC T20 World Cup semi-final. However, anything can happen in a game of Cricket. Even after getting bowled on a low score, the team might defend the total as well. However, it is quite embarrassing for the batters to not deliver on the biggest platform and that too when it was much needed.

Meanwhile, the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 is about to conclude as the first semi-final of the game is underway and is being played between Afghanistan and South Africa. The 2nd semi-final game will see India taking on the defending champions England. The final game will be played on June 29 in Barbados.

3. 101 by West Indies vs Sri Lanka (2009)

Sri Lanka and West Indies clashed against each other in the 2009 T20 World Cup semi-final. The Caribbeans won the toss and elected to field first. Sri Lanka scored 158 runs while batting first with the help of a magnificent batting innings of 96 runs by Tilakaratne Dilshan. However, the Sri Lankan bowlers stole the show by wrapping up the Caribbean side on just 101 runs and won the match by 57 runs.

2. 80 by West Indies vs Sri Lanka (2014)

The record of 2nd lowest score is also held by West Indies and that too against Sri Lanka. Both teams faced each other in the first semi-final of the 2014 T20 World Cup. Electing to bat first, Sri Lanka managed to get a total of 160 runs with the help of a collective batting effort. However, the match was interrupted by the rain and the match was reduced to 13.5 overs but the Caribbean side could only score 80 runs.

The recently played semi-final 1 game between South Africa and Afghanistan witnessed a poor batting display from the Afghanistan batters. Skipper Rashid Khan won the toss and decided to bat first. However, the decision didn’t turn out well for the team as they were restricted to just 56 runs, courtesy of a brilliant bowling display by the South African bowlers.
