In what seems to be a piece of pleasant news for Indian cricket fans, star batter Shreyas Iyer won the ‘Player of the Month award for March 2025. He was in contention for this award with the New Zealand stars Rachin Ravindra and Jacob Duff, who were a part of the Kiwi squad in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Iyer ended up as the second leading run-scorer in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, alongside being the leading run-scorer for India in the tournament. He scored 243 runs in five innings, with a brilliant batting average of 48.60, hitting two half-centuries.

The 30-year-old also played a vital role in India’s win in the crucial and must-win games in the tournament, which led India to win the Champions Trophy title after a long wait of 12 years.
“I’m truly honoured to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March. This recognition is incredibly special, especially in a month where we lifted the ICC Champions Trophy — a moment I will cherish forever,” said Iyer on winning the Player of the Month award.
“Being able to contribute to India’s success on such a big stage is something every cricketer dreams of. I’m grateful to my teammates, coaches, and support staff for their unwavering support and belief,” he added later.
Furthermore, the star batter also extended his gratitude to the fans who kept supporting and encouraging him to perform consistently well for India.
“A heartfelt thank you to the fans as well — your energy and encouragement keep us going every step of the way,” he concluded.
Currently, Shreyas Iyer is in action as skipper for Punjab Kings in the ongoing IPL 2025; the team has won 3 games while losing two in their five games so far. Apart from that, skipper Iyer has also been in sensational batting form, scoring 250 runs in five innings, including two unbeaten appearances and having an outstanding average of 83.33. He has also scored three half-centuries, being the leading run-scorer PBKS in the tournament.
