India's chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, spoke about the guidelines that are made for the cricket team. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set certain rules for the Indian team. The policies might seem harsh, but as per the chief selector, they are just rules and not punishment. The Board has barred the players from taking separate vehicles during the games and the players will have to pay for the extra luggage in the airports. These are some of the new policies that are set by the team management.
"These are just rules, not punishment. These are mature people, superstars in their own right. You have to follow rules. Lot of them have been in place in any case, maybe we’ve spoken about it now," said Ajit Agarkar during the presser.
Rohit Sharma was heard talking to the chief selector, saying, "After the PC, we have to discuss family rules; all the players are calling me." This is another rule set by the Board where the players can't travel with their wives and family members. Moreover, the family can only stay with the players for a maximum of two weeks on a long tour and for a week on a short tour.
Unfortunate that he (Siraj) has to miss out: Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma revealed the real reason behind excluding Mohammed Siraj from the team. The player has worked relentlessly in all the games but has failed to get the required results. Hence, speaking about the effectiveness of the player, Rohit said that they are taking bowlers who can bowl in all the overs.
"We only wanted three seamers. Unfortunate that he (Siraj) has to miss out. Siraj’s effectiveness comes down when not bowling with the new ball. We have no option but we wanted guys for specific roles. Wanted guys who can bowl with the new ball, be effective in the middle overs and at the back end. With these three boys (Shami, Harshit and Arshdeep) we can do that," said Rohit Sharma.
