Indian chief selector and skipper Rohit Sharma addressed an official press conference to announce the Indian squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The prestigious cricket quadrennial will be played in Pakistan while all the matches of the Indian team will be played in Dubai, starting with their campaign opener against Bangladesh on February 20.

Meanwhile, just another day of ‘Rohit Sharma being Rohit Sharma’ in a press conference also happened to be real in this press interaction as well. It all happened when the chief selector and skipper’s interaction with the journalists ended and the Indian skipper was caught off guard while expressing his feedback about the press conference.

After the end of the press conference, Rohit was heard saying, “Bahut boring tha yaar press conference (the press conference was boring).” It was caught on-air as Rohit’s mic was left turned on and the video of this moment immediately went viral over social media as soon as it was shared by a user over X (formerly Twitter).

Speaking of India’s squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, the management has omitted the pacer Mohammed Siraj from the squad while picking three pacers namely, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Arshdeep Singh. Besides that, the squad also includes four spinners, including a specialist and three spin-bowling all-rounders (Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel).

Young batter Shubman Gill has been appointed as the vice-captain of the team for the ICC tournament, including Yashasvi Jaiswal as a backup opener and Rishabh Pant as a backup wicketkeeping option.

The 2013 Champions Trophy winners will be eyeing ending their 12-year-long wait to win the ICC Champions Trophy since MS Dhoni led the side to glory in England, beating the hosts in the tournament’s final.
